Default Disarm passenger airbag? (Focus mk2)

Hi, does anyone know how to disarm the front passenger airbag on a mk2 focus (2006)?

My sister needs it disabled to allow a child seat to be used in the front.

She contacted the local Ford dealership, and after some quick research, the chap on the phone said he believed that it didn't have something installed at manufacture to allow this.

Surely there must be a way of simply unplugging the unit?

Any help appreciated.

Cheers Rob

There used to be like a key switch that would be turned, failing that it may be done via OBD now.

That's for a mondeo but it will be the same for the MK2 focus.
