Lotus twincam, Cam bearings worn?
Hello all,
I have discovered today that when I took the cam cover off to fix a leak that when I pulled on the cam chain the exhaust camshaft seemed to move in the bearings.
I pulled the camshaft front bearing cap off and found the bearing shell very badly worn (800kms old).
I pulled the exhaust cam out and found all the bearings just as badly worn. They are rough to touch and feel like they have run dry, they have not run dry but maybe the cam chain tension has pulled the cam to one side and really closed up the tolerences?
The inlet cam bearings are fine.
Is it possible that I had the cam chain way too tight?
Would this only wear the exhaust cam bearings?
What else could be an issue?
Cheers
