Default Focus TDCI Water Returning to Reservior on Startup

I just went to a garage to have a look at a 2005 (newer shape) 1.6 tdci focus and it just caught my eye that on startup (they had to jump it, dead battery) immediately there was a constant flow of water returning to the reservoir.
Is this normal?

I can't say I've ever looked for it before but I would just assume that the car would have to get up to a certain temperature before the movement of any of the water in the cooling system.

Sounds normal, usually water cooled turbos have a constant supply that will feed back to header.

Ah right, thanks. I just thought that maybe there was something wrong with the thermostat and it was stuck open or something.
