Default Mk1 Focus 1.8 zetec newbie needs help

Hi guys.

I've just bought a 2000(V) Focus 1.8 zetec and have a probem with the idle.

After driving the idle sticks at 1500-2000rpm for a few seconds then drops to a really lumpy idle that fluctuates between 500 & 900rpm.

I checked for vacuum leaks & found that I seem to have a hose missing, there's a breather on the rear right of the cam cover but no hose on it & also below the throttle body to the rear theres a large nipple but no hose.
Should these be connected & could this be causing the idle probem?

Thanks

the one below throttle body should have a yellow coloured blank on it, this is an extra vacuum port (normally 2 or 3 of these on back of manifold)which could cause the ideling, if i remember right the one from the rocker cover about 15mm diameter should have a pipe going to the inlet only a few inches long so could also cause the problem as its a leak in between maf and map which would cause idel fluctuations

Thanks for that.

It also has a badly bodged induction kit so the OE airbox is missing.

I think these are sealed on later versions where they were moulded slightly differently as required for the different engines.
The early ones (like mine) require a plastic cap to seal unused ones, and these perish over time letting air in.
