Zetec TB's or Carbs?

Ok guys am sorry to sound dense here, but i recently bought some R1 TB's for the zetec Sillvertop fitment, they are complete with custom manifold and came with two sets of Focus RS injectors (not attached), however I have seen this exact set sold previously as R1 carbs?? now I know that carbs dont use injectors but is there a chance that i have bought R1 cabs instead of R1 TB's? When I asked the previous owner he said they were sold to him as TB's and he does not know the difference, so i am confused now. Anyway here are some pics, will be gratful if someone can tell me.

As the injectors you are using are in the inlet manifold, it doesnt really matter.
They have trhottle plates and a TPS, what more would you want anyway?

Just trying to find out what they are tbh, I heard also that carbs wont pass an MoT on a post 1992 car (mondeo Mk1) due to emmisions. I just need to know if they are tb's or carbs.

You are misunderstanding me mate.

even if they WERE carbs, you can still use them as TBs with that manifold, so it doesnt matter.

not going to make any difference either way if they are carbs or TBs for emissions as you are using injection on that manifold anyway.

;-)thanks for the info. while I am here asking about them, can anyone reccommend a filter sock? or individual trumpet filters? are they all largely the same? i heard that Piper were ok. I also need to install trumpets is there any advntage to longer / shorter trumpets?

Thanks.

Longer trumpets are better for making more torque in the midrange, but if you go too long they can hinder high rpm performance.

unless you are on very hot cams, i would go for the longest trumpets you can physically fit in the bay basically mate

A sausage type filter will work better than seperate socks

thanks.

I am plannning on fitting hot cams too, (cat cams or piper cams) I have the stand alone management already to make it all run along with the uprated injectors. Is there anything else I need to be aware of?

Chip 20-02-2012 05:55 PM

The management you have will need mapping for the cams you fit

Hotter cams may require mechanical changes, such as different pistons for valve clearance, or higher comp pistons to allow them to work well at high rpm

The standard rods are relatively limited on their ability to rev, especially on standard rod bolts
