Mondeo 2.0 Si Zetec into MK3 escort Conversion
Hello all,
I'm planning to help my mate convert his escort into a 2.0 zetec but I have no idea were to start in terms of what I need.
I have done many vw conversions in the past so have a good idea what to do but i'm not sure if the engine will mount in the bay or if custom mounts are required, what gearbox to use etc etc.
We have a mondeo 2.0 zetec we can strip everything we need from.
Any help appreciated,
James.

For the engine mount you need to use a cvh one slightly modified if youve got the zetec engine out of the car its alot easier to see what needs doing.
Two of the cvh bolt holes line up then its just a case of chopping the corner off the mount spinning it round to line up with the third hole and then welding it back on job done.
The cvh gearbox will mount straight up to the engine so theres no extra work required there but you will need to use the flywheel off the 1.8 zetec engine as the bell houseing isnt big enough to fit the 2.0 litre one in or better still use a s2 escort rs turbo flywheel with the bolt holes opened up by 1mm as these are alot lighter than any of the zetec jobbies
mark.

Thanks Mark that helps a lot.
We are planning on using the injection on the 2.0 zetec with the standard ecu does anyone know hard this is to wire in? Do any of the plugs fit the mk3 wiring or does it require a lot of chop and changing?
Cheers,
James

Im not too sure on the wireing side of things when i converted my old estate over to zetec power i bought a loom already done so it was just a case of plug it in and away i went. That was done useing a mk4 escort xr3i efi loom so you might be able to utilse one of them but the dash plugs would need changeing aswell as there differant to the mk3 escort
