cooling fan wire's HOT
i have my cooling fan wired up to a manual switch, i noticed that when the fan is on the wire gets hot, perhaps too much volts going through it or is this normal?

Having the fans on a manual switch is not a good idea, it's only takes for you to forget etc and it's a costly mistake, hence why the system was automated to start with.
The wiring will get warm due to the amount of current the fans draw. This is why they should not be on for any longer than they need to be? How long are they on for when the wiring gets hot? Martin |
erm 10 seconds,
its a resto im doing so it not permanat, i just wanna make sure the engine doesnt over heat when i run the engine every now and then |
Are you using your switch to just trip the relay (Original design) or have you run your own wiring to power the fans themselves?
Martin |
my own wiring............................................ .........................straight to the battery :king:
|
Thought as much, I would suspect the wiring, what gauge are you using?
As I say the fans draw alot of power, if it's piddy wiring it will melt it. Martin |
its the original wiring on the fan im using, i just have no plug on the end.
