ERST ecu's chipped?

do both ecu's need to be chipped on a rs turbo or is it just the boost ecu that needs to be chipped?

i just had my timing "silver" ecu chipped on mine, and thats all i had heard of until recently, but a mate on here, 155lee, has had both of his chipped, not sure if this is necesary as the fuel ecu will work with more boost, mine did.

thats what i thought but i have a superchips chip on my s2 and the fuel ecu has a sticker on it aswell, and i had a few running problems and turns out to be my fuel ecu that was causing it and now i have fitted another standard fuel ecu it doesnt seem to run right on full boost

had this discussion with my tuner before your meant to have both chipped to get full benefit of them

so what do they do to the fuel ecu? i have looked at the boost ecu and you can see where they put the chip in, but the fuel ecu has no signs of any work been done to it?
