99.9% sure it will at least I know for definate it will fit a YBT (BT) so there is no reason why not for yours, there probably the same anyway.

With the small turbo being ford EEC management, it might not work, as it may be ecu controlled charge rate etc, though I don't know for sure at all, just a thought.

I am 90% sure the ST did not use "Smart Charge" easy way to tell is the connections on your alternator there will be 3 alone just for the ECU if this was the case. Otherwise there will be one connection and the main feed to the battery.

i know this might be daft have you checked the alt belt is correctly fitted and tight as ths would give it a low charge

90% of the time everyone assumes the alternator when in fact it's actually the charging circuit that is the problem.

Is the battery light on the dash working? If not then this is your problem, this light is part of the charging circuit, it is common for the wire for this bulb to break at the alt end (Blue wire).

What happens if the charge excites the field windings which starts the charge process obviously if the bulb is not working this can't happen, if you rev to 4000 RPM this also will start the charge process.

11.7V is not charging, to charge the charge needs to be higher than the open circuit voltage of the battery so 13V +

That is the problem, as I say the light needs to be on when ignition is switched on, it's glowing when running as the alt changes state from being an earth to giving a positive charge hence this is what extinguishes the light when charging, the bulb is working so must have a connection but I would still make sure the connection is good alt end first but I suspect you have a problem with the ignition feed to the bulb. Do all other dash lights etc work ok?

If you rev the car to around 4000 RPM this will start the charge process as well.

i had a similar problem with mine, when running was only getting just over 12V, it was a break in the wire to the alternater, on mine theres 2 which bolts on the back together and one had a break a bit further down.

now getting 13.8V when running

Yes you need to check the live to the battery light you most likely have a broken connection.
