Saph's draining
OK ive had problem for a couple of week's that the battery keeps draining , Ive changed the batterey as it was charging at 13.5v with everything on . so imagine how annoyed i was when the next weekend i came to it and it was flat again . so checked for a drain on the car and with everything off and the doors shut it's drawing 0.13 -0.20 amps so in my opinion it's exceptable . so even with the meter left on over night it's not recording and spikes or flux above 0.20 , ive have the alt off and it still drains , im begining to get slightly miffed with it so can someone think of anythin of the top of your heads that it could be ? Cheers Ally

It's going to be a small drain as they normally are and by the time period it takes to discharge, have you checked the boot light as this is very common for staying on? but this would draw more then the reading you have, battery end of life possibly?

That was my thought Martin as it's a motorcraft battery ive been supplied but it's flat post and has no date on it .Didnt think they had made these for a while ?

Think you still can buy them there was a thread on RSOC little while ago.

have you tried pulling the fuses one by one to see which circuit drops the drain off?

though upto 0.5 amp was classed as a background drain an shouldn't affect a battery over a week so in answer to your question no i havent but i'll pull them all out and see if it starts after a week.

Disconnect the battery, if it's still flat after a week it's no good, if not flat, at least you know it's a drain, then do as said pull all fuses, inserting back one at a time to narrow down the naughty one, what size battery do you have ?, flat post are still made by two factories, try a conditioner/charger on the battery, these work a huge amount of the time to revive batteries to what they should be.

ive got a 75ah battery on it at the moment from a mondeo derv , although i think i may have accidently found the problem , ive used the car today in agin it was lazy to start but did. ive lent my head unit to a friend and it's flattened his battery on his scooby in under 6 hours all with the car sitting locked up . and lone behold the saph turns over really well, so i'll leave it out a few days and see how it goes . Cant understand why it's not showing a high drain on mine but it is on his ?

on a 75 amp hour battery and u saying in your first post u have an amp draw of between 0.13 to 0.20 amps which is high!. The worst case on 0.20 on a 75amp hour battery it would take 15 day for that 0.20 to drain that battery if it was a good battery (75 / 0.20 = 375hours / 24 hours = about 15 days)
