Default another thick question from me, coolant bottle dirty can't check level easy

The coolant bottle on my escort van is grubby dirty, Like a browny colour, So can't easily see to check the coolant level,

The temperature seems fine on the van no problem there, Is there someway to clean the bottle. I am not sure if i need more coolant, As on the hottest level on the heater it doesnt seem very hot

as above, take it off the car to clean it, you have no chance with it in situ

ok so being totaly thick here, How do i remove it from the van, without the coolant going everywhere, And then do i simply fill it back up to the max line ?

Or do i need to check for air locks etc

Remove bottom hose with a clean container underneath to catch the coolant. Do as mentioned then refit. While your there if you are not sure of condition of coolant I would flush the system and renew. No need to worry about air locks just refit.
