Default girlfriends ka won't start unless i jump start it!

When you try to start it the started solenoid engages but motor don't crank and then all the power turns off for a moment.

Battery seems fine, reading 12.7 volts, if i jump the car from my battery it will start and runs fine. On one occasion it even started without help.

Checked all the fuses. Is this simply a started motor replacement or are there other possibilities?

A battery can seem fine but not be. This can look like a starter fault when it ain't, but a brand new starter may seem to fix it, but only because a brand new starter takes less to spin it than an older one. Just my 0.02 mate Get that battery checked.

Sounds like the starter motor may be getting jammed, and the extra power from the jump start is enough to un jam it, next time it happens putting the car in top gear and rocking back and forth gently, alternativly gently tap the starter with a hammer.

How old is the battery?

as said, clean connections for the starter and battery.
if that doesn't work, check your battery, may not be holding enough charge anymore, likely on the original battery too.
is it the same when the engine has been running and started again?

i had this same issue, replaced the battery thinking it was that, the car then drove great for about 2 weeks

when the starter failed (and subsequently fell apart as i removed it)
