Default Zetec Turbo build

I'm going to start building a Zetec turbo very soon, jsut a few quick questions.

Is there any reason why the majority (correct me if im wrong?) Of these engines are based on older Zetec e (silvertop) engines? From say mk1 mondeos. Instead of newer Zetec units (blacktops) For example, from a mk1 focus or mk2 mondeo etc? Also what companies do people source bottom end parts from? I've read the guides on fiestaturbo and spoke to a few people, but tips from people on here who have already done this kind of thing would be perfect.

Thanks alot for your help!

James.

people use the silvertop because its easier to fit but the blacktop is a better base engine to start with.

Easier to fit..as in easier to fit into a certain vehicle? I wouldnt have to worry about that really, so a later blacktop zetec would be a better idea? And I presume I could find aftermarket bottom end bits etc easier for those engines too.

yes they fit into escorts and fiestas easier than the blacktop. the blacktop has a better oil pump ,sump ,rod angle, and a better flowing head and solid lifters, the silver top has bigger main caps. the choice is yours.

everyone gets there knickers in a twist over the water pump rotates anti clock wise on the blacktop and you need to make a bracket and pulley so it turns the right way thats about it really ,its not a hard job
