no heater in mk4 astra van please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

my van has stoped blowing hot air, i thought it was the thermostate but i changed that and it's still the same.
im thinking iv got a air lock but i dont know how to shift it.

there no valve that i can see to bleed it of so im stumped!!
every now and the i get a blast of warm air for a min or so then it's gone.

again any help would be great as im f**king freezing going to work in the mornings, it was 1 degree this morning and i cant take much more

(vauxhall astra van 1.7dti year 2000)

thanks chris

Is it the MOTOR for the heater that has stopped, or the engine not getting up to temp ?
If heater fan(which is much more likely), then normally a dodgy speed switch, or more likely a resistor pack buggered, both quick cheap and easy to do, but you can always run a direct feed to the motor live and plug into your ciggy lighter as a temp measure to get some heat, this is what happens on full speed setting, it gets full voltage instead of lowered supply through the resistor.

When you turn the fan on, does it blow cold air or not blow at all?

Are the pipes at the back of the engine going into the cabin hot?

When you move the dial from hot to cold do you feel resistance like its actually doing something?
