whats best supercharger or turbo?

hi there,
im thinking of either supercharging or turboing my mk1 capri,
all i want to use is a 2.0l EFI pinto (205 block obviously) freshly rebuilt with all standard internals apart from maybe an uprated cam (maybe fast road/rally), with a verniner pully,
what do you think would be my best choice, either a supercharger or a turbo? im not looking to have a mad BHP i just want a nippy capri with somthing a bit different added under the bonnet,
what is your opinions lads?
which would be better?
supercharger or turbo?
thanks in advance to you all

maybe you would be better off with some basic headwork, a nice streetable cam and a pair of webers. Unless you are doing the work yourself (which tbh if you need to ask this question it sort of indicates you wouldn't be) you're looking at a lot of money for a bespoke forced induction conversion on your Pinto whereas the necessary N/A tuning bits are readily available second-hand.

Or another option is an XE or 24V v6 conversion, again a tried-and-tested conversion that can be done on a budget.

hope this helps

supercharger all the way.
i love my turbos, not literally, but for a smooth power that won't be daft then a supercharger will be fine.
but in all honesty i'd give it decent management and whack a t3 on for great acceleration.

erm yeah... "whack a T3 on it"......

by the time you add up standalone engine management, an exhaust manifold, turbocharger, downpipe, oil/water feed and returns, intercooler, boost pipes, low comp pistons or *cringe* a decomp plate, injectors etc etc etc you are looking at big (relatively) money, probably in the ballpark of installing a running second hand YB

the bloke said he wants a bit more power...

with a spercharger you should lower comression too, but you don't need to.
you get more torque and higher bhp for a given boost pressure on a higher compression ratio engine.
you'd easily be able to run 7 or 8 psi without doing anything to the engine whether turbo or SC. as for management, then megasquirt it.
bit of fabrication you'd see good power for less than £600-700

cheers for that little engine building / engineering lesson...

the guy asked what is better between a SC and turbo... not really indicative that he's going to have the ability to do the fab a manifold and map megasquirt.. correct you *could* ghetto a motor together for that money but its the whole Fast/Cheap/Reliable thing... (i.e pick two)

he didn't want fast, just a little more go.
he could probably run standard management with a custom chip on it.
just a few ideas.
it can be done and for more nippyness either a small turbo with little lag, or a supercharger with the right pulley.
