just fitted one to the rear beam of my 4x4 saph on the the bench after alot of squashing ,and compared to the original ford ones they appear to be very tall.so i put the unfitted one in place under the car and the bolt just about makes the first threads of the nut in the chassis leg.i reckon im going to have to tighten the bolt quite a fair amount to compress the bush about 2 cm when the beam is in place.the whole arrangement just does not look right to me as the inner sleeve in the new bush is not even the same diameter as the original ones.
is this normal for the powerflex type bush or am i missing something because if they dont compress, the beam will be nose down and the prop shaft to diff angle will be a bit more that should be
someone please enlighten me before i do damage

 

It will squash up just fine. It does look wrong but it all tightens as normal.
