Can't find alignment mark on Dizzy sprocket TDC setup
Newbie Alert
Hi all, I can't find any evidence of an alignment mark which is needed line up on the Aux or Dizzy Sprocket for my red top 2wd cossie motor. The belts been off and the distributor removed. I've looked over it everywhere and still no mark as identified in the manual. Anyone give me any pointers as to where I should be trying to aim the pointer in the sprocket. Cheers |
look through puley and you should see a half moon shape cast into aux cover. point the pointer in the wheel at center of this.

Cheers STU
I hope my motor's as quick as your reply :top: |
The one on the right that is ;) theres 2 on the aux cover. Also make sure the rotor arm is pointing away from it when its ligned up as from memory if you dont slot it in right it can be facing either towards or away from the pulley!!! From memory the rotor tip is about 50/60 degrees from vertical for TDC. and dont forget to bolt the dizzy housing with the mark to where the dizzy tip is!

Thanks for the pic Rich,
I've got the same manual as you by the look of things, but I can't find the dot thats shown. I'll just set it to the ceter of the cast 'half moon' shape and see how it goes. Am i right in thinking that fine adjustments of the dizzy can take place as conventionally with a timing light or does the ECU take care of this? Cheers |
ECU deals with timing from crank sensor signals - the distributor phase sensor and rotor arm just needs to be in about the right position, give or take 4 degrees or so.
ie line up the centre of the rotor arm with the line on the distributor body |
