2L ZETEC Gearbox Options?

hi guys, im a new member here so hi to everyone. what im after is abit of information on gearbox option for my 2l zetec turbo that im doing. i inted to run 13" wheels (yes i did say 13"!) but want a box that will give me the right sort of ratios i need to get the power down with such small diameter wheels. or if there is a bolt on rwd box id also be interested in that as well. thanks in advance for any help you can give. cheers, Jace

The T5 will go on the zetec, as ford helpfully kept the bolt pattern pretty much the same across thier engines.

Until the I4 Duratec HE......

Don't forget to fit a spigot bearing in the crank of the Zetec.

Any of the 4 Ford transverse boxes will fit (with the appropriate flywheel/clutch/starter):

BC >95
IB5 95>
MTX75 92>
MT285 02-05

as will longitudinal ones with the correct bellhousing/mainshaft.

Not all are the same though. For example the MTX has versions with rod gearchange and 2 different cable changers. Also the casings differ depending on car/engine it was fitted to (different bolt bosses for mounts, V6 engine). Also the gearbox front/bellhousing needs to match for starter motor position, late (blacktop) Zetec gearboxes have the starter behind and above the block.

Depending on the age, the best/easiest source for cluster and FD ratios is the Ford TIS. Pre '98, probably a Haynes manual.
