ECU's

I have 2 ecu's, one has a babyboard with collins stg1 chip, the other just has stg1 chip no babyboard.

the one with the babyboard seems to have died, should i not be able to start the car with the other ecu??

also is it possible to swap the baby board and work?

thanks

john

check you have spark and fuel before starting it and dont go boosting about....get it to a tuners and make sure it's not running lean on boost then if its good to go then your lucky.

so it should work just simply swapping 1 stage1 ecu for another?

stevecossy Feb 20, 2008 04:31 AM

The collins baby board replaces the orig 1, so if the other ecu you talk about has the stg 1 chip plugged into an orig baby board then you can just swap the ecu and see if she fires up.
If ya still av a prob then as above its time to check other things.
Good luck

have taken a picture:

on the left is my original with collins chip stage1 1993 escos
on the right, a p8 from a 1992 escos with stage1 but no babyboard?

should it not still run?

It should start whit the other ecu yes. You can also swap over baybyboard, whit the chip who stands in it. Some chips, need babyboard other dosen`t work whit it. It is not original, whit board at all.

Both will interchange as long as you dont try and swop the chips themselves.

IE:
You CAN put the chip and board in either P8.
You CAN put the boardless chip into any P8 with no board in.

cheers stu

looks like i should be looking at other possible faults then like loom
