Sounds like my cossie when a head i got had a problem!! Turned out when the bloke i bought it off got it checked there were 2 loose valve guides in it!!! Which was making it loose compression and only run on 3 cylinders.

U checked it aint some thing silly like the lead or spark plug. you never know u may be lucky.

SteveB 06-10-2003 08:53 PM

Worth checking the cam............even if you have good compression the cam may be fooked

Air Leak ? test engine comprestions.

L33 BYT 07-10-2003 06:08 PM

mmm. Does the miss fire clear when you rev it??

SteveB 07-10-2003 07:45 PM

Compression all fine.
Misfire all the time.
Bought the car like it.

Just doen't do anything on cylinder number 3 even tho it has fuel and a spark....weird

SteveB 07-10-2003 07:46 PM

also .....

No air leaks and cam is fine

L33 BYT 07-10-2003 07:55 PM

I think your gonna have to have the head of just to check. Ok it'll cost ya in bits. but u have done the things which I would try. Ok your getting a good compression, but if there is fuel being dumped into the bore and for some reason it is not firing, then the fuel will increase the figures you are given on the compression gauge.

bent or burnt valve

Stu @ M Developments 08-10-2003 08:15 AM

Does it rattle a bit Steve? If so, swop the followers from No:1 to No:3, they may be knackered.

RScrew69 08-10-2003 01:07 PM

have the followers still ot oil in them if the car hasn't been run for a long time, try squeezing the oil out of them and check if there worn underneath. if there full of oil have pressed so the oil is all out, so they will fil up when u start, if there already full sometimes they have difficulty as stu said if there worn items.

cheers
