escort rst brakes
 

hi people
is the s2 escort rs brake servo known for being rubish or is it just mine?iv cleaned out the vacume pipe thing and i have replaced the mastercylinder but it still feels realy poor,somtimes i will not even be able to lock my wheels in the wet!??is there a good replacement for the servo unit and is it hard to do?iv been told a escort van servo would be better?

It's rubbish yes, but it still should be easy to lock the wheels even in dry. It just needs much more force on the pedal than modern cars. Any of the newer servos are much better; Mondeo, focus, mk6 Escort, ...

Best would be a Cosworth/Granada type system that doesn't rely on vacuum. Personally I hate the RST servo beause when on throttle, you can brake once. The second time there's no vacuum left before you lift the throttle.

oh rite and i know what you mean by the brake twice thing i get that alot.well i should be able to get hold of granada one quite easy or even a mondeo servo but would this be tricky to fit to mine or would it just bolt in?im am not running ABS.if they dont run on a vacuum how do they work then?sorry im not to sure on brake servos :roll:

The Cossie/Granada ABS system has an electric pump that creates pressure in an accumulator that operates the boosting of the master cylinder. Absolutely no idea how easy it is to do in a RHD car.
