how do you cahnge a drive shaft???
 
hi
can anyone tell me how to change the drive shafts on my ford orion? its a 1990. i think its mainly my left side shaft thats worn the most,which on my car is the short one out of the two.what should i look out for when changing them? never done one you see :?

To take the shaft out you need to undo the 24mm nut in the middle of the hub(think thats what size it is) then the pinch bolt on the track control arm and push the t.c.a down so you release the hub from it then pull the end of the shaft out of the hub then once you have the hub end of the shaft out all you need to do to get it out the gearbox is to give it a good hard pull and it should pop out (sometimes they can be a fucker to get out and you may need to use a crow bar :cry: ) bewarned when you pull the gearbox end of the shaft out gearbox oil will piss out of the driveshaft hole.

cool so once the shaft is all out,will i need to set the traking again or summin and how would i go about replacing the oil that has pissed out of the driveshaft hole?

No you wont need to have the tracking done again. Once you've replaced the shaft theres an allen key plug on the front of the box what you need to undo and thats where you refill the box :top:
