Default Escort Mk6 Brake upgrade.

Hi,

I have been told I can fit Escort cosworth 4x4 Calipers and discs to my mk6 escort zetec? Does anyone know if this is true?

yes ya can m8,

iirc you will need to pack out the calipers away from the hub, you can do this with either washers or making a spacer plate, i think you will need a different banjo bolts, and longer caliper mounting bolts.

iv got a set of 4 pot saph cossye calipers to put n my mk6 when i get round to it

as said, you need to space the calliper about 4 or 5mm from the hub, i used 3 10mm washers i think.

i also used the braided brake lines that came on them, but needed a female/female adaptor for them to fit.

I have a set on mine.

I used the mondeo mk2 V6 calipers though as they were cheaper.

The caliper carrier has to be spaced out from the hub by 5mm, CVH head bolt washer is the perfect thickness, but needs to be opened out to allow the caliper bolt through, as does the mounting holes on the hub.

Use escort cosworth discs with them and they will be spot on. I have mondeo hoses on mine too, not got round to braided yet.

Yes easy mod, depending on the car a good mod, for cossies, the escy/sapph 4wd are hopeless, so better they find a new home!!

Hi

Thanks for the advice all!!!!

Do I need longer bolts if im packing them out with washers? or can I just use the bolts on my mk6?

Cheers.

P.S. to those who have fitted them do they make a big difference?

I just used the bolts that came with the carriers/calipers, there has been no problem for the last year and a half

And do they make a difference, in a word, yes.

Best mod I have made on my car

so will mondy st24 discs/calipers/pads bolt straight on then just by spacing the caliper out or does the discs need swapping out for 4x4 cosworth ones?

Default Escort mk 6 with Mondeo mk 1 disc brakes

Hi I just upgraded my front brake setup on my Escort mk6, fitted Mondeo Mk1 calipers was a straight forward fit however I had to enlarge the hub holes and had to space the hub from the discs with a washer on each stud as the disc rotor was scratching the carriers, otherwise no issues at all.
