non running series 2
Hi Guys,
Can someone advise if possible as to the reasons why my car will not run.
I have had an issue with my car for around a year now with the issue being lack of acceleratuion above 50 in 3rd gear.
The car appears to boost to around 10psi and then gives up the ghost.
After speaking with a specialist and driving all the way there they advised a new clutch. I purchased an AP clutch and installed it with the issue still at large.
I got the car back form the garage and it appeared to have an over heating issue.
I noticed the fans were not working and changed the fuse however the car is still running extremely hot.
A week later I took the car to the garage again as this time the car would not start after travelling 5 mins down the road.
A new starter motor was purchased and fitted.
The car now does not start as it shut down on me whilst driving casually.
Again the car is in the garage with it appearing to be starving itself of petrol.
The garage took the air filter off and noticed that the metering unit flap (sorry not a mechanic)! was pissed (technical term)
I hope to hear from them tomorrow as to what I need to do to get my car up and running again, however I would like to hear from people who may have an idea of what's going on.

what has the car been doing when its been cutting out it sounds like the metering head is shagged if its pissing out it may not be as simple as that though cause its went on so long there may be engine damage. get the metering unit changed and see what happens is it sparking

can you explain what "the metering flap as pissed" means?
Could be a sensor issue, check if you are losing ignition spark when the fault happens aswell.

After turning the immobiliser off and placing the key in the ignition to start the car, you can hear the fuel pump in the background, the car sounds as if it is going to start with the usual sound and then it dies. (As if starving itself of fuel)
Meaning of “PISSED” Not aligned properly.

Sounds like the garage are fobbing you buddy.
You want to crank it over with the airbox off, check iff the flap "pulses". if it does, then it should be fine.
Check you are getting spark by whipping a plug out on the lead and leaning it against say the engine lifting eye. Then, if you have spark, slightly undo one of the red veins on the metering unit and crank it, it should piss fuel all over.
If both of these work, then something more sinister is amiss.
You say it came back from the garage with an overheating issue........... this is the problem I would be most worried about, sounds like a headgasket issue to me. Have they been twatting it about in your absence?
