EFI CVH ECU's
right just been reading fast ford (dont ask) and read an intersting bit on EFI fuleing
in perticular the part on OVERRUN FUEL SHUT OFF and that it can be fixed when broken if anyone knows how please let me know as mines def up the wall drives like a bag if shit on lite throttle rely jurkey and loads of fule is dumped into exhaust when comin off the throttle to a standstill (sounds kool IMO - but still wrong) wanna know how this can be fixed????? STU from MD wrote the article |
You sure that was on EFI CVH's?
I know its a common problem on the MFI's and is very easy to cure.... |
DEF mate its infornt or me says its common with EFI CVH ECU's
stu rekons the only way round it is chiping it but thats not garenteed...bugger |
Ah right. Might have to buy a copy of that.
Surely this only happens as a result of a faulty ecu though :? |
Sounds like they've made a mistake. You get the overrun valve on MFi cars - it sits behind the fuel distributor and when it goes wrong its normally a dodgy throttle switch...
EFi cars don't have one - the injectors just inject less fuel. Get a £15 Gunson fault code reader from Halfords and plug that in. It should give you a good idea of what's going wrong. Have you checked that you've not got a split air hose? Sounds a bit like a MAP sensor problem... |

CVH EFI shuts the fuel off on overrun, i'm sure it says that it's fixed by remapping the ecu to turn of overrun fuel cut at low speed in the article. It wouldn't have been talking about mechanical inj in a feature about ecus.
|
her that why a wrote over run fule cut of they have made no mistake
i was aking how to fix my ecu  its k now asked stu, needs chipping |
I've heard about this before, - but I may be missing the point.
The thing is the original EEC-IV ECUs program/map is hard wired in the factory and cannot be changed without a chip. It is not possible for the program to spontaneously change on it's own. That being the case if your car "started" doing this on its own one day then it can't be a fault with the ECU program. Something else must have gone wrong which is causing the problem. You may be able to cure the "symptoms" by tweaking the program to ignore whatever is causing the problem, but are you addressing the root cause? My EFi CVH works perfectly well on the original map, as does the spare ECU. What is the code of the ECU that's in your car? |
Just out of interest has your car got the early Weber ISCV?
|
i dunno how can u tell???
ya no what thats a good point, i dunno just what ive been reading it dosent discrabe the fault just states that its commn prob |
i was thinking f getting a new after maret fule regulator and running some treatment through the had,
more or likly needs a rebuilt de cokeing, etc any more info in the falut code reader may have to invest |
Where is your ISCV? On the inlet manifold? On a bracket on the inner wing? Or on the airbox?
The standard fuel pressure regulators are very good, don't be fooled into thinking FSE are good. |
i think its on the air box just behind the inlet manifold but not sure what it looks like to be honest.....think i need an new haynes manual mines 4 a mk3
|
I don't think the Haynes manual really covers the EFI models properly. Mine certainly doesn't
|
there are 2 diffe ones need the red one, i have the purple one
|
If you get an Orion Haynes that definately covers EFI, or get a Fiesta one, same wiring used on them :)
|
safechav u was saying about the ISCV
|
Soz
Is it a long jobby with 4 6mm bolts in it? |
should i replace it service it clane it????
if feels like a theres a flat spot at about 2k/2.3k rpm any common probs??? |
Well, i cant really say too much until you tell me which one you have :blabla:
The Weber ones are prone to play up and got replaced by Hitachi items |
righty ho, do u think i can het a Hitachi of the late reg xr2i (CVH)
i'll go check right now |
right have no idea what im lookin at goin on that u said i think i was lilking about something different, u got a pic of what i have to lok 4
there is a black box mounted on the from of the ait box also a long round thing with 4 bolts (torx) on the left hand side of the inlet manifold |
|
The thing on the side of the inlet with 4 small torx bolts is a hitachi one.
|
bugger it  whats next
|
Check all your sensors and possibly change them, see if it cures your fault.
I threw a lot of 3i MAP sensors away not so long ago........ |
its rely shit on light throttle thats all what ya rekon that could be?
|
Possibly your TPS
|
bugger
|
??
Easy peasy to change |
so u rekon t could be that then can i nick one off an xr2i????
|
Could be, its a potentiometer unlike the ones on MFI RST's.
Gota be worth a try if you can find one cheap and easily, couldnt guarantee it. Ive got a couple if you get really stuck |
its just got a realy anoying what seems to be flat spot, its driveable but just pisses me off
|
All i could say is try it mate
Or if youve got a meter you should be able to tell if its ok or not. |
