16V Zetec Turbo in Fiesta - clearance between turbo and Rad?
Posted on behalf of a mate - can any of you Fiesta 16V guys shed any light please? How little clearance between the turbo and radiator is it safe to run??
============================================
I am Currently putting together a Zetec 16V engine into my FRST using a T3 from an ERST, the turbo is very close to the radiator, I have been told that the rad needs moving forward 2" but i still think its too close for comfort as i am running a 16v Zetec head not a 8v CVH as is popular in ZVH conversion,Zetec head may sit forward further than the CVH Head?
what options have I got? & if anyone has come across this problem & know's how to overcome it

An inch is as far as I would go otherwise the coolant temp could suffer + you are risking damaging your rad especially with play of engine during launches and gear changes (most of the time due to weak engine mounts).
Also make sure you don't move it too far down under the slam panel as it is prone to get damaged there by stones etc.
Thanks - Sunny.

thanks for the input guys.. he's trying to maintain as much gap as possible without resorting to removing the bonnet catch I think - I haven't actually seen the setup he's got myself yet..

don't want to sound like a smart arse - but he slam pane is actually the panel that the bonnet catch is in - it actually allows the rad to move up a bit higher.
i suggest you remove the fan and bumper and the vertical bar that runs top to bottom - a couple of ally brackets and it should look quite neat
