Retrofit focus estate roof rails
hi,
has anybody ever retrofitted roof rails on to a focus estate?. ive just got some second hand, does anybody know if the guide/bolt holes are already in the roof under the headlining. I know i will have to drill the roof itself with a step up drill to accommadate the positioning stubs on the rails but i was hoping the bolt holes might already be drilled in the support struts under the headlining.
thanks
Allan

what year focus estate
i have fitted a set to a 2001 estate and once you have removed the head lining the mounts for the rails are there
i drilled the holes through from the inside first then drilled the holes in the roof
if i remember correctly they need to be about 22mm in size to accommodate the rails

Thanks for the info. It's a mrk1 2000. So are you saying the rails are there or the hole positions are already in the inner rails under the roof trim ready to back drill?
Thanks

i purchased a set of estate roof rails and retrofitted them
if you pull back the roof lining you will see a mounting point that will line up with the threaded part on the roof rails
you can drill through from the inside with a small bit and then open them up on the actual roof side
hardest bit was getting the grab handles out of the way

retrofit ford focus roof rails
hi mate just retrofitted a set of ford rails to my 2000 focus estate. after removing the headlining the holes are already pre drilled and easy to see.
we started off by drilling up from inside small piliot holes and checking this with the rails. the finished holes needs to 22mm its best to use a cone step cutter to drill these from above. from start to finish took about 2 hours
