Marco, yes, it must come from the battery direct as the problem is actually BEFORE the relay

This also alleviates the ecu from teh pumps drain and will likely win you a volt or so there too, try it and see.

Hi Stu

I'll get you a couple of pints when i see you again thanks for your help

one other thing tho when you said before the relay i have a pectel engine loom and the relays are connected to that loom would i have to cut into the new engine loom where the relay is ??

sorry to be a pain mate i'll leave you alone after this

Marco,

You would be better off using the output from the Pectel fuel pump relay (the wire connected to the pump positive terminal) to trigger another relay which then carries all the current from the battery (fused obviously) to the pump and then a return earth cable back to the battery.

Marco - its best to do it like i've done mine and run some overly large wires to the pump direct from the battery using the original wire as a trigger for a relay

if you are ever up this way, drop in and i'll do it for you, it only takes a couple of hours to make a nice neat job of it

Not a cossie but.....

I re-wired my RST this winter, just how Neil did his really. I get 14.1v @ alt and 13.9v at the pump.

I stripped everything though, the only orinigal bit is the old positive which now drives the new relay under the rear seat

Matt

does your moniter read the voltage coming from the fuel pump or is that genral voltage ??

Marco
secs monitor measures ecu voltage pal

dingo and me measured 044 pump voltage when he rewired that for me, was done at different time to the engine loom that the monitor breaks out from, god (and dingy ) knows what the voltage at the pump reads but he said it was more than ampul and now physically cannot draw any more ampage than the standard wiring (8 amp i think he said) can take

yep i also done this mod on my old rst was well happy with the results to 14.4 at the battery and 14.2 at thee pump, thats with a brand new 90 amp granada alternator and new thicker battery and charging leads rerouted away from the turbo as thats where ford run the wires

marco get it done pargi, even i done it myself, i wouldn't boot the car until its sorted 10.8 is dangerous

I may have posted this before but here it is again... a pre-assembled harness with it's own relay and fuse. Easy install and works very well, this is the second car I've installed it in...

Going to rewire but a quick question

Got a 40 amp ford relay but unsure which terminal i should connect the following too:

battery positive feed
Feed out to fuel pump

The Relay i have the terminals are numbered 30, 85, 86 and 87.

Any help appreciated
