Marco,
You would be better off using the output from the Pectel fuel pump relay (the wire connected to the pump positive terminal) to trigger another relay which then carries all the current from the battery (fused obviously) to the pump and then a return earth cable back to the battery.

Marco - its best to do it like i've done mine and run some overly large wires to the pump direct from the battery using the original wire as a trigger for a relay
if you are ever up this way, drop in and i'll do it for you, it only takes a couple of hours to make a nice neat job of it

look at it this way Phil
if i had an inertia switch in the boot to mount the relay to, then i would of mounted it there, but as i don't

Not a cossie but.....
I re-wired my RST this winter, just how Neil did his really. I get 14.1v @ alt and 13.9v at the pump.
I stripped everything though, the only orinigal bit is the old positive which now drives the new relay under the rear seat

Matt
does your moniter read the voltage coming from the fuel pump or is that genral voltage ??
Marco
dingo and me measured 044 pump voltage when he rewired that for me, was done at different time to the engine loom that the monitor breaks out from, god (and dingy ) knows what the voltage at the pump reads but he said it was more than ampul and now physically cannot draw any more ampage than the standard wiring (8 amp i think he said) can take

I may have posted this before but here it is again... a pre-assembled harness with it's own relay and fuse. Easy install and works very well, this is the second car I've installed it in...
