Default Anyone in Cambridge, please?

Hi people,

I'm contemplating rebuilding my Westfield kit car and am considering putting a CVH turbo into it. Nothing too powerful (about 150 bhp) as it will be very difficult to drive. However, I don't know anyone from the Westfield forum that has installed such an engine and I would like, if possible, to check out the layout of the engine from someone with a bit of knowledge. I currently have a 1.6 CVH in my Westfield but, know nothing about what extra I'd need - oil cooler; plumping; heat issues; what I could salvage from my current engine, etc.

Any local help would be greatly appreciated. If you think you're nearby, there's a chance I could drive to you. As long as it's a nice day - it's an awful to drive in the rain

Reply to this thread or my email is below.

Thanks.

Neil

Thanks for the reply, Adam.

How close are you (in terms of miles)? MY first port of call would be to get some examples of the engine layout (what goes where. I already know that they're mounted transversely in a 'proper' car such as yours. It's longitudinal in mine. However, it looks like the turbo goes off in the wrong direction to what I need, once it's over the head

Can you suggest any sites that might give me an idea?

Thanks again,

Neil

Hi mate,

Im about 20 miles out of Cambridge towards Bury.

Yes, the turbo comes down from the center of the engine off the exhaust manifold, mounting it the other way would probably prove difficult as the turbo would be in the wrong place and you would need like a 90 degree bended turbo downpipe for the exhaust to go down the center of the car

Have you though't about a cossie lump? I have not seen a rst lump in one of these cars but have seen plenty of cossie lumps as they are mounted that way anyway, all looks nice and snug but works, must be larey aswell!

Look at these pics a member from here has posted....

B*ll*cks! I wrote a long reply. Infact, it took so long the server time out my connection

Therefore, you get the quick reply. I aint writing it all out again. Is there any chance of popping around and sticking my camera under your bonnet one weekend. I'd enjoy the drive out for a start! No problem, if not!

Thanks for the links,

Neil

Hi mate, i have a S1 turbo that is having some work done, the guy who is doing it runs a track kit car with a rover engine, ( in know its not the same as you are after), and would probably be able to give you advise on what to look out for, and potential issues you might have. I can PM you details if you want.

Hi Scott,

Thanks for the offer but, I'm surrounded by a lot of talented guys'n'gals with various engines under their bonnets (Rover K-Series, Zetec, Duratec, VX lumps). Just none of them have ever fitted, or even seen a Se7en fitted with a CVH Turbo. That's the only info I'm looking for, really. Cossie exhaust is on the wrong side. I'd have to cut another hole in my body work :-(

Having said that, The Zetec Turbo raised an eyebrow A standard Zetec on 45 Webers should be about 165 bhp. Plus the turbo. I don't know!

Thanks for taking the time to reply, mate,

Neil
