how do i get into motorsport/competiton racing
I'm building a fiesta XR2i trackcar at the moment, its ready for trackdays (its first the w/e) and is about 60% ready for competition
How would i go about getting into racing it, amateur of course.
obviously i would need a race licence first , how do i get this ? how much does it cost ?
Could people in the know give me some advice please and is there an XR2i annual race/competition thing, ie such as the Rover S1, Mini cooper etc etc which i'm sure i've seen on top gear.
cheers

Have a browse round here http://www.msauk.org/
Its suppost to be our governing body
Try to find a motorclub near to you by using the links, give the membership secretary a call and see what they offer. Different clubs specialise in different diciplines of the sport, so its no use wanting to go and race, but then join a rally club for instance. You'll find plenty of friendly advice at your local club meets and be able to speak with people direct.
If you need help along the way with anything just give us a shout Except money of course

First ! Join a motor club , a local one and a regional one , chose this by going to spectate and find out what you like the look of . There are loads of categories a Fiesta fits in , the c/ship i do was won by one this year ! Its not expensive , dont listen to people who dont know what they are saying after youve built the car thats the biggest expense out of the way .
Contact the Msa , and ask for the go Racing pack , this has your licence application inside , take the test at your local track and away you go !!
Best thing i ever do all those years ago , enjoy !!!

EVO magazine are running a series on startup motorsport, one way of getting into motorsport in each issue, last month was tarmac rallying, this month some cheap BMW race series.
Try and blag a copy off your mates if you can. If you can't, PM me and I'll try and scan them for you.

Too many posts.. I need a life!!
I compete in Rallycross in the stockhatch class, it's not that expensive and its the best fun you can have with your clothes on!
I've used an AX gt, an XR2 and 205 GTi's in rallycross but once you've turned it into a RallyX car that all it can be used for and it wont be road legal. There are still a few XR2'sand XR2i's in use in rallycross stockhatch and will be fine to learn in but don't expect to be quick in one.
You could also have a go at 750 motor club stock hatch saloon series and that allows you to keep your car road legal.
