with the engine as it is at the moment im hoping for around the 260-300bhp mark but its probably going to be more like 260-280 in reality , but more if i decide to change the spec and go for steel rods and new pistons with more boost not exactly sure what im going to do yet, this is the same with loads of things on the car... so many decisions to make

Very nice those plates mate......however if the coppers stop you too many times with them on and decide to be arseholes they can put your car on a Q plate...so be careful

cheers Dunc, get it done before it gets cold outside matey and get some pics and a thread of your own so we can see whats happeining

been out tday looking round the scrappies for some mk3's with leccy windows n central locking today, no joy but me mate managed to get hold of a nice clean parcel shelf for his s2

popped into a local upholsterers and got a quote for the interior of the RSi, full leather, or leather n alcantara was going to be twice the price of the black vinyl and charcoal grey alcantara in the pic below. the vinyl looks and feels the same as leather but just doesnt have the smell, but i dont think it justifies twice the price personally. have to buy myself an extra smelly tree to hang in the car!

done a little bit more work today when i got home, started pulling bits off the engine ready for the big job of removing it from the bay 2moro. came across this switched thermostat which was bolted behind the grill, and the copper bit stuffed down into a water pipe past the jubilee clip why not just replace the fan switch if it was fooked the wiring on this car is shocking, so glad im pulling it out!

but i will get it done!

good luck with yours, always loved the rs1600's and urs is gonna be the daddy with a 2.1 turbo in it!

should my battery tray be welded in at this strange angle?

bits n pieces taken out of the engine bay and this is how its looking

engine out, loadsa room in the bay to work

nasty bit of rot on the bulkhead, not looking forward to taking a grinder to this

this big crack behind the brake servo is the root cause of my swimming pool in the passenger footwell

inside both front arches before i strip the underseal off to find more rust

tools tidied away, just waiting on the bonnet going back on before i go in for a cuppa n some bait.

plenty of graft done today here we go with todays update

heres the engine bay with the gearbox, driveshafts and suspension removed

everything removed from the bay in the following pics. bulkhead doesnt look too good behind the brake linkages and servo

its had a new lower panel fitted as some point but like the rest of the repairs its not been done too well would love to meet the muppet who's been doing these repairs who thinks he can weld the front of both chassis legs looks a bit dodgey too, find out how bad these are 2moro when i strip the crap back off them

close up of the bulkhead where its cracked

and the battery tray area where its cracked

heres just about everything ive pulled off the car today

look at all this wiring, its about 50% chocolate block

heres the inside now the pedals, heater matrix, wiring loom, gear lever, handbrake lever has been removed

underside of the battery tray from inside, another shite repair by the looks of it

underneath of the drivers side of the scuttle panel from inside

brake servo and linkage... no wonder theres loads of pedal travel, squillions of linkages that are worn

and the final pic, how she looked at the close of today

Top job mate. You've cracked on with this at a good rate.

I read the thread, then realised I pm'd you months back reference your clio turbo project. Then we chatted last weekend at TOTB. Do you remember me telling you about the lad I was getting my cooler set-up from: Scott from RSOC....think it's Scott R who's posted on this thread as well. Small world !
