cheers boys
done a bit more on the engine today...
fitted the crank pulley, idler wheels and timing belt, adjusted the belt tension, nipped up the camshaft bolts, rotated the engine and checked the timing again... sorted
attached the rest of the covers and pulleys
a couple more pics of the finished engine from different angles
(manifold still needs a little work and is just bolted together loosely for show)
last of the updates for today... screwed on a new oil filter, not the best pic in the world i know

How does the exhaust route on that turbo? Over the gearbox and not under it ? Would need a fair bit a wrapping to stop temps going thru the roof !
It looks likely that R6Franky will be the proud owner of this engine, I damn hope so, be mint seeing it in a mates car like (Y)

I knocked up a dipstick tube mount at work last night
16mm round bar with 20mm at one end turned down to 10mm, then an M10 thread cut onto it.
On the other end i drilled a 6.8mm hole and tapped it out to M8, then cut a bolt down to length
fitted to the cylinder head it looks like this
with the dipstick tube and dipstick mounted, simple but effective
and finally a full engine shot showing the dipstick skirting around the exhaust manifold

I'm pretty much in the same state myself with my zetec and was wondering what alternator mount are going to use? I noticed that the S1 mount positions the alternator right in front of the water pump inlet.
