the engines going to be on standard head and cams so that will be the restricting part of the engine, even like that it will be ok for a nice reliable 250-300bhp with similar lbft of torque.

what was it that caused the bad runnig? the piston rings or the inlet gasket? two totally different things

can only be done in 2 ways really, either press the fittings into the block or drill/tap the block so the fittings can be screwed in

as i wasnt planning on finishing the engine due to selling the car, i began selling stuff and the rocker cover was one of those parts. Bought another one off ebay and this is how it looked, ooh sexy

shot blasted the rocker cover clean, missed a couple of bits but cleaned them off with wet and dry paper later on

removed the splash plate from below the breather outlet in the rocker cover and jet washed it and blew it down with compressed air to ensure no shot was left inside after shot-blasting it

refitted the splash plate

a coat of primer and the parts now look like this

waiting on the top coat drying before i get some more pics, do that tomorrow.

injector sandwich plate, tapped the injector ports and screwed in some 1/2" BSP plugs with some sealant on the threads

primer'd

first coat of black

lower half of rover inlet manifold primer'd

upper half of rover inlet manifold primer'd

trial assembly of the inlet, with a few coats of lacquer

bit dusty in this pic

cheers lads

the bits on the bottom of the rocker cover that look like paint runs are not, i only noticed them after i had painted it unfortunately, theyre imperfections in the casting, as i found out when i tried to polish one out after painting and it was aluminium

i dont see how the gasket in question would cause poor running, unless yours wasnt sealing correctly for one of many reasons

i also have one of these in the garage, a rubber clad metal gasket

but if you look carefully you can see its been damaged in a number of places by someone with a hammer and pin punch or similar dont know who it was but it wasnt me in the bin it goes

He hasn't got it anymore Don't think it was the best decision he's made.

The engine he is building is to sell on to make a bit of cash to buy goodies for his evo.

R6Franky youre right... i dont think it was the best decision ive made in recent years will need to tweak the Evo a bit to make up for it

Rs Baz a bloke came and took it away... i assume hes still got it now, dunno who he is tho.

Opened up the holes of the efi flywheel today, so it now fits the zetec crank it will eventually be bolted to, also cleaned up the mounting face

so now its ready to be lightened and balanced together with the crank, rods, pistons. It could do with skimming for sure, look at the state of the flywheel face.

one filthy 1.8 sump and oil pick up... no its not... its the 2ltr one, doh

nice clean sump

other clean bits (accelerator cable bracket needs changing from the lovely green )
