just ordered one of these to keep an eye on my inlet charge air temps

mine is black plastic not white as shown in the pic and it has a blue backlit display, accurate to +/- 1 degree, cycling every second for constant temperature readout.

How about paint, then clear stone chip over the top?

Nothing protects like paint and laquer

Dont use underseal Give it a good key up (Bare metal ideally) 2K Acid etch prime then use some stonechip, then colour over that

Also the spray stuff you are using, the Upol Zinc stuff, is meant for priming new metal before its welded, so the back sections are covered too, but it still conducts the electricity so allows it to "weld" dont think it will be thick enough to "protect" after weldng but they all much of a muchness really...

Red oxide is what yyou need to keep the moisture out, though unfortunatly new type red oxide is not as good as the old "dangerous" stuff

not done as much today as i would have liked but managed to buff the surface rust off the bulkhead and front floor and also the rear drivers side arch lip, then spray with primer to stop the bare metal rusting

my air charge temp gauge arrived today, had to power it up to see what it looked like

powered up in the light, the camera flash took away the blueness of the display

looks like this in the dark tho

I have to disagree fella, he has a full photographic history of the restoration as i do of mine. Nothing dodgy there.

Had mine done as i couldn't see the point in colour coding the bottom of the car - unless ya going down the concours route?

As long as its protected and stops the rust and shit rotting it, thats all i'm concerned with

Either way, whatever you decide............... Its a fantastic resto

andyt, power is supplied to the gauge by a switched live, then the you put the sensor they supply into the boost pipework. the resistance of the little sensor must change as it gets hotter/cooler, altering the reading on the digi display.

cheers lads, might see if i can wangle a half day 2moro

Not being funny but in 5 years time you wont have a clue whats under the underseal, photo's or not. And believe me it puts people off.

I suppose it all depends on weather you sell it or not

But prevention is half the battle, in 5 years time my car might be in the same condition as it is now because i have caked the floor pan in rust prevention stuff.
