good news on your gauge
it had been going steadily but very slowly until ripper popped over for a bit and welded the battery tray and drivers side inner wing repair panel in for me well done that man
im feeling a lot happier and confident with the car at the moment, not be long til the wings and arches are being welded on

Looking seriously good mate, keep it up
Does the Zinc paint stop the fresh wields from rusting I take it? I think I remember someone saying the place where a car is wield is the first place they rot, looking at my mild steel exhaust on my get-to-work shead mobile, I'd have to agree
Really good work mate, keep it up

yeah the zinc primer stops the welded bits rusting as it doesnt absorb water like ordinary primer does
its amazing what a small amount of paint does to make a car look a million times better

heres a better pic of the bottom half of my rover M16 inlet, with the flange milled off
heres a flange that i cut off a zetec Escort aluminium inlet manifold, that has been milled flat
just need to persuade one of the die maintenance lads at work to weld the two bits together now

Adam_BlackRS, no ive always been using the M16 inlet.
Freddy_mercury_magic, the areas on the zetec flange where there are no injector holes needs to be built up with aluminium weld then ground out to follow the same shape as the injector cutout does in the port of the rover manifold
