C&B's 350bhp CVH RST BREAKING - See for sale section
My car has been off the road since the Performance Ford Shootout in December. It had a missfire at 5800rpm, which we simply couldnt get to the bottom of. That coupled with the fact that I have been lucky with the Standard Mahle pistons (that had been machined to lower the C/R!! ) that I was running, led me to embark upon a Rebuild.
I intend to give an insight into the new engine that I am building. Obviously I can't give everything away. But some of it may be of interest to a few of you.......
Here's the start.......
*
The rest of the Bottom end is already being Machined. I will be ordering Bearings and Gaskets early next week.
I have a Cylinder Head being done, which I will post photo's of once done. I am also going for a Solid Lifter Cam, which I intend to spec myself.
The Inlet Manifold and Injectors are also being changed.
This isn't a big budget rebuild, but I wanted to build an engine that will be stronger than the last one and hopefully squeeze a little more power out of it. The main thing I want is to get it 'Finished' and enjoy it. The car has been very much an open book for some time now.

I hope to get comfortably into the 300's with the new engine, but to be honest, Im into the car for how well it drives. It is a lovely set-up and I hope to maintain that. I also wouldn't mind pushing the Top Speed boundary a little further.
As for traction. I am not really planning to change anything in that respect at the moment. The gearbox is close to expiring and when it does I might, depending on funds, add a Quaife Diff.

The make is the same, the spec is slightly different.
I have some pics of the car from the Performance Ford feature that I will resize and add to this thread later.

Thanks everyone for your comments.
16"
330mm!! With Brembo 4-Pot Focus RS Calipers, which are a real squeeze behind the 16" Wheels.

Looks smart!!
Whats the smaller 'turbo cooler' in your pic? Is that a radiator just to cool the water which flows through the turbo? Never seen that before. Or it is some kinda intercooler also?
Cheers,
steve

Thats right, it pre-cools the VERY hot water that comes out of the turbo so that it doesn't raise the normal cooling temps too high.
Regarding the engine, its all in the hands of the machiners at the moment, so I suspect that in the next few days there should be some real progress.
