Default Rs Turbo Clutch slip / Dump Valve question..

Hello,..

Been lurking here for years , need a bit of advise please.,

I've recently refitted my dump valve back onto my Series 1 ( purely nostalgic reasons )

I've noticed that sometimes during a high load situation I.e planting foot in 2nd or 3 rd gear the dump valve hisses and the car wont accelerate past 4k revs ..like the clutch is slipping ..would you guys suggest clutch or leaky D.v?

Seems to be intermittent..if i boot it from 1st gear 5 out of 10 times its fine.

( ,..should probably take it off and try it and see what happens..)

many thanks in advance

p.s car is running 190HP , uprated clutch etc.

Probably one for the rs turbo section

But sounds to me as if the DV piston is leaking! Be worth taking it back off and trying or trying another DV

Needs a new spring in the DV but if it's a sealed DV you'll need a new DV.

Thank you for the input.

I was under the impression that the spring is only there to keep it closed idle. When its boosting the pressure should be equal either side etc.

Also its intermittent which is odd. Can a spring half work ?

Thanks again

Yes a weak spring opens to early ..and it's common.
