Zetec 16v IN Mk3 Escort Coolant help
Hi All
So its been some time since I have used the forum and I am looking or some help/ Advice please.
My Mk3 Escort has a 1.8 16 Valve Zetec.
Std Rad inlets and outlets but alloy
Alloy header with bottom and top in/outlets.
I also have my heater matrix piped in.
So the car starts and runs fine the warms up slowly by the way its running Megasquirt. It continues to warm up and get hotter and hotter until the fan comes in. I think this is kind of ok
I also think the coolant pressure gets a little high. Its not blow any pipes just yet.
So the real problem I get is when driving. The coolant temp gets quite low to the point that MS goes into warm up enrichment (i.e cold start) the max temp is 60 deg so it must be getting to cool for it to come back on.
This causes issues then I come to a stop with the engine at high idle.
Iv been though all the little bits but I am now thinking that because I have the heater matrix piped in I am some how bypassing the thermostat so the engine will not maintain 90Deg
I will do a drawing of my coolant system later BUT any of you out there with a drawing of your coolant system you are running. OR are you sort of running the same and it dose the same.
Cheers Ferd

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
In the bottom hose between pump and the bottom of the rad you would have three spures. One for the header, one for the bypass and one for the heater matrix return.
Like this but with added matrix.

PassionFord Post Whore!!
Fit a cvh thermostat housing to your Zetec then just pipe it all up like a cvh would be, Just without the Y piece that splits to the middle if the inlet on a cvh.
