10K+ Poster!!
I always liked the blue writing / lines on black, really suits the car and was so different back in the day, my step brothers wife had one when she had only just passed her test, her dad had it from new and gave it to her, my metro did about 95 flat out and 0-60 slowly, she used to go up to 130 in that thing and it seemed like 180 in today’s speeds.

I’ve been busy doing a little refresh to my rear suspension parts it’s 19 years since I last done it and the brushed on smoothrite was badly chipped. Still not going to the expenses of power coating as it will never be a concourse car and if it’s too good I’ll not want to use it. I have gathered some more tools since I last done this to enable me to do a better job
so hopefully I will last another 19+ years.

They are not finished in the picture but my process is
Back to bare metal with a wire brush on my die grinder.
Etch primer.
Stone chip (the finish in the picture)
satin black
Its keeping me away from the Ł300 drink hamper I won at my local

Well that’s it in hibernation for six months. Not checked the mileage but used It quite a lot. Plans are the same as the last 5 years... to fit EFI and standalone management. With my sons Fiesta able to pull away from me I have some extra motivation.... we’ll see.

So earlier this year my master cylinder started leaking I bought one from a member on here that turned out to be a XR3 part no problem as it kept the car working. with new S2 cylinders difficult to find I thought I would have to replace it with one from a newer vehicle however I have managed to get mine refurbished complete with fresh zinc plating.

Giving it a little refresh before fitting the refurbished m/s. Not too bad condition for 30 years old ford shit compared to some I see.
Servo removed
Concourse geeks check out the two different colours of green on the original brake pipes.

Surely that can’t both be original brake pipes. The light green one I’d say is original the more olive green one looks more like an aftermarket brake pipe. Also the actual fittings have deteriorated differently which says to me the olive one is of an inferior quality to the original one. I may be wrong tho.
Cars a credit to you all the same m8

So the winter work is complete and the car is ready to be taxed on 01/04 but what’s the point I can’t go anywhere! No surprise that the stand alone EFI wasn’t done but I did buy the MFI head to EFI manifold interface plate last week so only injectors and a filter to fuel rail hose is needed.
I removed the rear brake valves and fitted ones from a KA.
The engine bay had a little clean up.
The floor pans were repainted as it was 20 years since it was last done.
Interface plate
KA pressure reducing valves
Underneath
Difficult the photograph the underneath
Rocker cover was painted silver
Master cylinder refurbished

I put it through an mot last week and back in hibernation before I went on holiday.
Jobs for over the winter are as always standalone management (almost started the conversation during lockdown)
replace clutch and get the flywheel reground.
Sort out the camber after fitting coilovers in April.
Get my calipers refurbished by bigg red.

I normally start my winter jobs in the holidays after Christmas then ignore them for a few months and rush to get them finished but making progress now.
Gearbox out using a borrowed lift. No grunting required.
Don’t know why it was slipping!!
New mounts
Cover as bad as the flywheel
Reground and ready to go
New clutch
Just needs fitted.

A few more jobs completed and an unexpected one.
New track rods and ends fitted. With Ford parts NLA I done some research and TRW seemed to be the best but there rod ends were unavailable. When I removed the original gaiters they were branded TRW.
I replacement heat shield to replace my damaged original.
Gearbox filled.
Got my wheel pointing in the right direction. Good enough until it’s done professionally.
Old tracking gauges but they still do the job.
And somethings unexpected. My clutch wouldn’t release. So the well proven Escort 5/6 pedal and quadrant
The part before it’s modified
I added a metal piece as I thought the adjuster acting on the plastic was a poor solution. In fact for something that AP promoted I think it’s not great but it does work..... for now
I also added this spring but don’t think it does anything.
And new short plate.

This is looking great - I forgot how much I love the 88-spec interior. I had a black 88-spec XR3i (also an E reg) and remember way back then the in thing was to switch to 90-spec interiors, so I picked up a pair of red fleck Recaro's for half the price of the later ones, chucked em straight in to match the rest of the interior. I thought the darker grey was much nicer.
Yours is looking really clean and I love the home restomod.

He drilled a hole through the pedal and quadrant and fixed them with a bolt then installed a Cortina cable with the manual self adjusted at the gear box end.
I received a delivery today
Just need to add some stop faster decals

Another job ticked off the list.
Having covered 148k my driver’s seat was not as firm as it used to be and the pictures below is what finally made me get it done.
New seat swabs and knee roll.
I thought the drivers seat spoiled this picture
Although it’s done lots of miles it’s still better than most I see for sale with 80k
New foam
Old foam was done. When I seen this I will get the passenger seat done too.
All together, just need a clean.

Went to start it yesterday and nothing. Investigation today and the 28 year old Vecta Managusta immobiliser has failed. It cost me Ł650 and was the only one approved by insurance companies and I was unable to get insurance unless the car had it.
Need to do some research with what to replace it with.

My new Image RS 200 split rims got fitted today after my Nankang NS2R tyres arrived after and 11 week wait. They are 16x7. Would have liked bigger for aesthetics but I have original uncut arches and didn’t want to change that. I may have to tweak the ride height.
Ive not seen them in person they as I’m on holiday but got sent the pictures.

So back from holiday and lowered the front 10mm. Maybe go a little lower but I’ll decide once I’ve stared at it for a while. I swapped out the Image centre caps for RS ones. I intended to replicate what caps RS200s had whether it be RS, Ford or Speedline but from all the pictures I’ve seen they didn’t have any caps fitted.
