Default 1988 Ford Sierra Sapphire 2.9 V6 24v BOA Cosworth

Hi all

Ive been on here 10 years as a creep but some of the gorgeous build threads has given me the drive to finish this lady off.

Thought id share my Sierra bought from a forum member as an unfinished project. I'l let the pics do the talking. Since Photobucket has kicked the bucket you will have to excuse me for the thumbnails.

So as you can see I sourced a set of sharktooths, had them refurbished but I couldn't find centre caps so had to make do with Ghia 4x4.. Also sourced a new back bumper & sent the car for paint in its original colour, Maritime blue. But yes it wouldn't fit onto the plant trailer.
Mint Rainbow Recaro was sourced at a price I couldn't refuse but it just didn't suit the car. It did for theme time.

So now the car is painted it still had no clutch or exhaust, or power steering. What I forgot to mention is that I had to finish off the wiring by sourcing a BOA loom on eBay.de as I could not find one for love nor money.

Heres the next lot of pics:

Hydraulic clutch finally got the thing selecting gears to find syncho aint great in 4th.
2WD Magnex exhaust adapted to V6 downpipes.
Underside sealed
Braided brake lines all round
Found 2WD cossie brakes so had them refurbished & fitted
Ford Puma gear knob has same gear pattern & thread as the T5 Borg Warner box so polished one up. Now I feel like Steve McQueen through the streets of San Fran.
An Azure spoiler was fitted, keeps the car sleek.
Amber rear lenses were sourced, keeps it period.
3 out of the 6 door mouldings were replaced, all new bumper trim too.
Woking Ford dealer plates made up by I fear the dealership does not exist anymore, shame.

Passion Ford'rs, I'm sorry for the brief bullet point description but this car has caused me some serious heart ache & id rather not go into it lol.

So now the car is 90% there its been fully polybushed, AVO coilovers, adjustable TCA's.

One thing that got me was that it needed light grey cloth to go with the Maritime blue. A friend offered me £200 for my Rainbow plus his mint light grey cloth, result.

Nearly, the throttle cable has stretched (I think) as the throttle stays wide open when you absolutely pin it. Yes its a shame I didn't start a thread on here from the start, theres so much more detail like the RS accessories steering wheel came from Greece, its had a new tank, pump & fuel lines.

Its finally sitting the way I want it.

nobody said you can't share the work you've done?? I just think it's odd you've decided to post up your car and what you have done to it now that you have decided to sell it instead of during the build.

Ive shared it on one other forum (RMS) since the build began but decided against PF at the time because there were too many keyboard warriors to be honest.

Plus admin deleting interesting build threads without warning. Uploading progress on a project car takes alot of time & effort & I didn't fancy jeopardising it on here.

Glad you are keeping the spirit alive Kyle.

2WD Cossie clutch & flywheel. I too toyed with the 6 paddle but for all the power they make (210bhp) I think we're safe with a standard item.

Hi Barry, I am doing a 2.9 24v boa conversion at the moment, just wondering had you much problems with wiring it in? i have the engine in and see there is 2 connectors on the engine loom with 9 wires i need to connect into the car loom. i know some of these are for temp, oil and battery light etc just wondering what the rest are for and which ones i need to get ignition/spark. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I know this is an old thread, but I used to own his car a fair few years back, very solid sierra shell. i would be interested to know how the engine runs as I done the conversion and rebuilt this with ported heads.

good to see it still the car.
