Focus RS MK1 with WRC influence
Well I guess it's about time I started a thread on the focus I've been working on. I started it years ago as a single man but marriage, twin boys etc really slowed it down.
I got the car to a rolling unit days from being taken to the garage for final checks and start up. One day I opened the door and I wasn't happy with the cage. So I stripped it and started again. When I say I started again I mean Mark at MK Motorsport. Now I know this will stir up a hornets nest but can we please keep my thread clean and keep your criticisms to the car not Mark.
I'll show a few pictures now with a few words and see how we get on
I suppose a cage was I good start so I opted for a tig welded item. Plenty of bars to keep me safe
Double door bars with vertical yet to go in
WRC spec top mounts and turret mods. Marks work is amazing
Once again amazing skills
Don't worry about the v bar it's only placed in and will be central when welded
Hand fabricated gusset on the windscreen pillars
I decided I needed a pedal box . I asked mark to put in a WRC spec one with mounting plate
ROLLED IT!!!! It's the only way to get the welds right I'm told
Some of my favourite pictures these next ones. I opted again for a WRC top mount in the rear. This time the oval type. I'm hoping to convert to rwd in the future so I future proofed it
More nice welding
Bespoke rear turrets
Here's the little beauty that bolts to them
No guess work here. Bang on plumb!
Nicely in place and being welded and patched tomorrow. That's all for now. I hope you like it. Please keep your comments in relation to the car. Mark has made a great job so far and credit where it's due here!

I commissioned some bespoke parts from Mark as I knew his workmanship is beyond reproach. I wanted ultimate adjustability in the front and rear. Here's what he came up with.
WRC spec tca's and rear camber arms
Simply brilliant
Billet mounting block for compression struts a
All rested in place on the front subframe. I'm building all the sub assemblies so it'll be a quick job to get the shell rolling
They are adapted from the cosworth stuff so should be up to the job

Right who's up for a bit of inlet pornography?
One of the many things that Mark is making for me is an inlet and billet throttle body. This is his YB inlet but it's being tweaked to fit my zetec head. I'm beyond words when he showed me it
Tasty
Spectacular workmanship again

That inlet system is stunning, I would love something like that an my ST, but fear it would cost more than the cars worth. But again stunning workmanship, well done.

Mark has changed my top mounts to a set that matches the rears. More camber adjustment I believe. I've also decided to have cradle mounts fitted to make life easier in the future.
Here's the cradle mounts soon to be welded in
Lovely looking top mounts. Should give a good range of adjustment
Plenty or bladed arb's and mounts in stock. I'm having a bladed rear set up put in too
Mmmm cradle. One day when I'm not so skint!
Bladed bars ready to go on
Top mount in location

I forgot to include a picture of the rear turrets getting finished. It's looking like a nice bit of tigging is taking place

6th pic up from here looks like some bits destined for my car. Mark is doing a blank for my dizzy and machining my cam cover for a trigger plus a billet fuel rail and a few other bits.

The final fit of the cage started today. Marks welding is simply brilliant. To say I'm happy is an understatement!

Just a few of the cage going in. Mark is working hard to get it done.
