Have you seen the state on the welding on the current Mongoose systems? Lee from Scotland had one for his 2wd sapp, what an utter heap, he refussed to fit it to the car.The old Mongoose systems were good, sadly cheap labour as a result has made the product quality ways suffer as a result.

Bit of a drive aswell.
But he will have no issues and it will be the best esp the welding.
Yes Simpsons Paul, maybe worth a call to just to get a rough idea on price.

Lee I wonder if you could post your scorpion to mike edwards to make a better quality copy and ship it back to you? Could save a journey?

Better to make on the car. Mike would have to make a jig to make a copy and that would cost to much and fit the same as a scorpion which you wouldn’t want.

Nice idea Adam but the Scorpion has it's faults to, it sits to low in the centre section, hence the centre box getting battered over time. Plus the boxes themselves the bore is around 1 3/4" maybe 2" bore max at a guess by looking down the boxes themselves. Hence this is the only reason I wanted to replace the Scorpion with a proper 3 straight through system that was far less restrictive than the Scorpion as I am upping the power a bit.

Yes better to be made on the car for fitment issues I guess. Thanks again Mark for your advise.

No not seen any the later made mongoose exhaust systems, I was just assuming they’d be the better ones to go for as an off the shelf system ready to go on.

I have friends who have both Simpson’s and Edwardes made exhausts and they are lovely, my saff will prob be going to Edwardes for my custom system.

Cheers Paul

I've got an "old" mongoose system on mine, was fitted about 15 years ago and have never had a problem with it. Shame the newer ones are poor quality as they were/are great exhausts

Yes Edwards and Simpsons have very good reputations, expensive but quality from what I hear.I've got somebody else doing a new system for me so fingers crossed it will be much better than the one that is on the car right now.

Got a few bits and bobs ready. Oil breather hose as mine has been melted by the downpipe aready. New washer bottle gromments as mine are leaking now. A new washer bottle cap and a new set of RS centre caps for my lattice wheels.

Thanks. Lee.

Well, I had another exhaust fabricated and fitted yesterday.I think it's much better than the last one, has some proper bends in the system this time a larger centre box and a small backbox.I went for a 3.5" rolled out tailpipe this time around instead of the 3" as I thought it sits nicer in the bumper recess. The backbox is a little small for my taste but the system sounds incredible, I'm very happy with it, not to loud but had a nice deep burble, a nice presence about it.
I took the other exhaust system back to the supplier and got a refund.

Here's a few pics.

A few more to come.

I am so pleased with the sound of the system and it looks far better than the first system I had made.Suprising the difference in the driveablilty of the car to, seems much freer now to.

Hi Lee,

Good to see all your progress, the car looks fantastic!

That exhaust system is the same make as the one on my 4x4, just a 3" straight through and back box, sounds incredible under load lol - did you get it fitted in swansea?

I have not been around for a while as I had been quite ill up to a few months ago - hence why no updates on my car although it is now pretty much ready to MOT thank god!

Hi bud, long time no speak, glad you have recovered from your illness. No I had the exhaust done just outside Cardiff.

Took the car today for a 4wheel alignment on the Hunter geometry machine. It wasn't to far out which I was suprised at as I had new beam bushes and new rear ARB bushes fitted also new 0.5 degree camber plates.

Went to Stu at MSD yesterday for my set up and live mapping session. The car runs so smooth now, fuelling is spot on, goes well to,better than I thought it would.
It didn't make the 400bhp/400 lb ft torque that I wanted, this was due to the turbo holding the car back as it wouldn't flow enough air. That did disappoint me but the drive home was fun and it does go very well.I will put up one of the graphs shortly. It looks a bit laggy on the graph but on the road it is pretty good.Held 24psi on the rollers I think and peaked at 27psi.On the road though it hit 30psi, so it did put a nice smile on my face as it was nice to drive a cossie again now it's been mapped.
