Mobile Service Technician, well that's my job title but basically a mobile fitter. I work for Pirtek and replace hydraulic hoses and assemblies. Installations on new machines. Can work on anything, fork lifts, bin wagons, excavators, tail lifts, cherry pickers, power stations, wagons.......anything with a hydraulic hose. It's a dirty job some days. But different most days too.

Been thinking it about......would need 88 spec rear spoiler (easy to get), body coloured mirrors (easy to get), bottom half painted dark Grey (my mate can do that for me, and the side rubbing strips (like rocking horse poo, and have RS tax when you find some). So if I find the rubbing strips, it will get done.

Changed my knackered under bonnet stickers today, but used ones for a 1.6 efi engine so they are correct.

When I the idle control valve to the Hitachi Ford modification. I didn't realize they also replaced the ecu. The car has been idling better but every now and it started hunting. So I sourced a 1afa ecu and it arrived today.
Car fired up absolutely perfectly, idle was spot on. Even know the battery had been disconnected.
Got up to temperature, and fans didn't kick in. Done ecu reset procedure. Still no fan. Switched off engine, before it got to the red. So I could bridge the fan switch plug. And the fan switch fell apart in my hand. Checked fan still, and all working. Just need a new switch.
Think it's past its beat lol

And a little video clip of how it's idling now, and a rev up lol.

Just can't drive it till next weekend, as I'm on call.

Thought I'd sort the rubbing strips out today, ready for when it goes to paint.
Before, plastic had gone brittle and chrome tarnished.
Before
Had to peel off the old double sided tape from the back. Peel off the plastic, then clean up and put on the 12mm wide red Coach line.
Not perfect but not too bad either lol

love your thread and the pics of your spins too.
glad to see someone who also enjoys his car anytime possible, instead of keeping care of her just to take her out for shows and events (as many people do downhere)...
you're doing great there mate!

Going to set the CO on the emissions machine on Saturday. (as I've set the idle and swapped ecu, so needs checking). Well my Dad will use the emissions machine, as I haven't got a clue how to use one lol......but I know how to adjust the CO.

Oil and filter changed, as it's been 1000 miles since replacing the cam.
Got decent oil in now, as only used cheap oil to bed in the cam.
So sounds quieter and smoother now.
Old oil was a good uniform colour, no traces of fuel, water or any metal. So all good.

Topped up the gearbox oil and replaced emissions filter with a genuine Ford filter.
Cut open the old one, glad I changed it. Was past its best.

CO levels checked this morning, needed checking after replacing idle speed control valve, ECU and resetting base idle.
All good should be 0.8 +/- 0.25.

Had a small oil leak from the top of gearbox for a while now, cleaned it off and put talcum powder on to trace the leak.
Traced it to here
Only losing a small amount, so got told to try this stuff. Dirko erling 705.707.
Run a bead, and flatten it off to seal. Not the neatest job, but will hopefully work.
Also as I'm on call for a week. Thought I'd refurb my RS 4 spoke steering wheel. Paint is tarnished and leather is discoulored. No cracks or rips.
Rubbed down paint carefully with fine scotch Brite. Then cleaned, and a few coats of satin black.
Over the weekend, I'll re dye the leather using this kit.

The screws someone had fitted in the past are counter sunk (wheel has flat holes) and miles too long.
Cleaned threads using my 6mm tap, and tried new screws.
First stage on restoration.
Cleaning off the old leather sealant.
Second stage, apply degreaser and allow to dry.
Third stage, brush off degreaser. And sand down with 1200 grit wet & dry.
Forth stage, apply base layer of colour. Then 2-3 more layers. 15mins between each layer.
Got to leave it for an hour now before applying the sealant. So far, so good.

All finished, just need to add leather protector in a week's time. Not bad for my first time.
Looks a bit grey, because it's satin black.
