Default RWD Ford Probe - Fabricator Found :)

Hi

Ive got a beaten up sierra sapphire however it hasn't been welded and is really solid underneath.
The top is battered and looks like it been raced.

Also i have a spare ford probe with no engine or box and was considering the idea of transplanting the floor off the sierra onto the probe to build it as ford should have originally.

Can anyone recommend a fabricator who could do this swap and the likely cost?
(Once the metal work is done im happy to finish it off and paint it)

Im based it South Wales and can move them both easy enough but is there anyone around who can do this?

Ive seen vans, escorts, pumas and KAs done but never a probe so thought it would be quite a cool project.

I would ideally like to keep the final car as much sierra based underneath as possible in order to make my life easier with completing the project myself rather making too many custom parts.

ideally i need to move both shells in the next few weeks as im moving units so looking for a fabricator who has space to store them till they get chance to do it. Im not in any rush for the conversion to be done.

Any suggestions would be great

No problem, i have a build thread for my other probe.

It all hinges on finding a fabricator in the next few weeks to take it on as im moving units and probably wont have the space to keep both shells when i go.

I've owned probes since 2001 and been in the owners clubs here and in America and not heard of anyone doing this conversion so you may well be right.

Is the wheel base the same?

How about being more radical and getting hold of a wrecked but good runner Audi Quattro TT ?

to help with storage, why not remove as much of the sierra that you need and scrap the top, will be much easier to store 1 car and an underside

Ok i think the project is a go, found a guy fairly local to me and whilst he hasn't dont a sierra based conversion he has done other manufacturers with peugeots and a lot of off road stuff so think it should be in safe hands.

He is collecting the sierra shell today for measuring up.

I spent the weekend out in the rain stripping it which was very pleasant

Looking on blueprint.com i found some basic dimensions:

Not sure on their accuracy but the length of wheels base is pretty close but the probe is a bit wider.

and one doner before stripping (it was free with no rot):
