Does look like a good solid one, have you seen the one on Retro Rides with the BMW motorbike 16v head conversion ?
Yeah with 10'' wheels. It does look ace. This is a channel island car with 60k miles and 10 owners. So luckily somehow still relatively solid. Just gone on some of the usual places.
That's cool my brother had a racing green mg turbo one wicked little car
Cheers, yeah that's what my friend had too. G303NUE iirc. Although this is rarer than a turbo I think. 1 of 13 OTR
Should make a good project, cant remember the last time I saw a metro!
Cheers. Yeah it gets a lot of looks. Had loads of people say it's a rare sight
Looks a cool retro car, I remember the Rover GTa. Not a fan of the spots or the 4 spoke alloys.
The revos (4 spokes) were sold on not long after I bought them don't worry. It was me just trying something different was all. And the spots aren't on it at the moment. But they are marmite. Much more of use when hooning down a country lane at midnight.
Used to be a fan of the sporty metros, can't remember last time I saw one though. Be great to see it given a new lease of life and some more ooomph
Cheers. This will either get a big power build, or I'll stick in the original engine again purely for originality as it's so rare. Either way I can't wait to get stuck in and give it the love it deserves. It's taken some abuse being my first car!
rare site to see on the roads now
used to be the car to hate back in the day, I did buy quite a few metro turbos but only to fit the engines into classic minis, cool looking little car now
Cool little car, retro - I like it ! Good plans too, look forward to updates
Cheers all. :DD:
I've thrown a couple of mine on instagram but as soon as I tag GTa I get a load of ''free gta5 money online'' followers ffs
I would love the wheels for mine though on that touring car! Looks lush! |
Very cool matey. Shame about the sierra.
Cheers Glenn. And it is but time to move on
Looking good!! Look forward to seeing more... :top:
An ex had a Metro Turbo, kept eating gearboxes for some reason.... :wall::wall::wall: |
Cheers. Can't wait to get started and minting it out. She deserves some loving as I've abused it for a year without fail. And lol, they were limited to 4psi under 4000rpm as standard to prevent gearbox issues under warranty but remove the ecu and they broke 1st motion shafts or diffs from what I remember reading.

rose tinted specs there....they were a shitty cars in the old days and they wont have got better with time although its something different and I do like to see unusual projects.
They were pretty good actually, I had a few as did mates and family, they stood up well against xr2 and 3's. A good metro is not a bad tool. I would love to do a turbo project.
Lotus prepped the turbo and was good for 200bhp but the gearbox couldn't take it, if they had found a solution to that it May have become a giant killer (Cossie bater) |
my first car was a metro, cool thread....i like that computervision paint job one..ace
Haha yeah 9psi sounds like it's ready to break something. Although Citrine yellow. That colour is really period!
And not a fan of the Metro I take it haha? I've grown to love it to be honest. But hopefully this will be way better than a standard car by the time I've finished. Even if it stays A series I'll make sure to over engineer everything I do to it. As BL definitely didn't! |
Almost owned a 6R4 when i was a kid but guy wouldnt budge on price and i was £100 short after borrowing off every one and buy the time it was pay day it had gone:cry:

The 3i wasn't much better either, but with a bit of work and a head gasket, was a nice car, till she got t boned in it! :wall::wall::wall: |

Lol, I loved it!! It was black, an old B reg one, (going back to about 1996 when we had it) loved the looks and performance, was a hoot to drive, could thrash it about, don't know what the suspension was, but low and stiff! Just hated the reliability, or lack of...

Probably just cut cones and pumped up hydro units as that's the equivelant of stiff springs in a normal car.;-) Hard luck with the 3i lol. A friend at work has a 28k mile 2 owner one but he wont sell it lol :wall: |

They do have a charm. I've had 3 classic minis but this just has something about it they don't. PLus it feels like a Bentley in comparison haha.

And here for me is the car that made me get my metro. My dads old rally car being pushed sideways out of a junction somewhere in derbyshire on a rally
Attachment 27757 A few more of mine Attachment 27758 Attachment 27759 Attachment 27760 And a few of my ownership problems. My maniflow exhaust has been utter wank and has destroyed one manifold and the bracket snapped and my rope repair failed and I drove home with half an exhaust for 50 miles. Sounded like a ricer but was piss funny watching peoples faces. Not the policemans though. He didn't like it. But could scare any old ladies and caused a stir driving through my town centre at midnight going for it  Attachment 27761 Also at 90mph I had a cheap wheel bearing collapse on the m60. That was scary and here were the results... Attachment 27762 Attachment 27763 But hey. All made for fun. Oh and it's gone through coils and ignition modules like nothing else?!?! |

Love it. A lad I know buys them all the time as he builds 6r4s with supercharged Honda type r enigines in
Cheers. And I'm sure I've seen one of those on a thread on the net somewhere. I really keep considering an ep3 type r engine for this. But stick throttle bodies on it. Would make for a great track slag
