Mad progress matey, so how much is one of those spacers gonna cost me eh?

Looking forward to seeing what you do with the drivers side mount. At the moment im stripping down the old head to build up my new port and polished, FRP cammed head...not showing off of course:

Also trying to get the rear spacers on, but there doesnt seem to be any adjustment on the rear KA drums :S

Haha, remember ive been up to Manchester and Leeds a few times so Northern/mates rates yeah?...

Im looking for the adjustment screw on the brake cylinder in the drum but cant find one so i assume is auto adjusts to compensate for pad wear. When doing research i saw that it might be the lip of corrosion stopping me from getting the drum back on

Anybody any experience of driving a similar car without power steering?? I know the older cars did without but a lot of them were probably rear wheel drive??
When I bought P2KKA it was running a PAS rack with all the hoses removed, and 8J cossie wheels. It was still usable.

Got the head built

Valves have been disassembled from the old head as the parts i got with the new head were very mismatched. Got the new head skimmed and lapped all the valves. Its now all back together and the head will be torqued down and the FRP cams installed and timed up this weekend

Cheers for that Hobo! If it's bad I'll maybe do the electric rack conversion. I'm definitely not messing about with pumps and power steering fluid! If I wanted to fit a pump it'd be a supercharger!

Looks like you're getting there now Will! I'll see where I can get to with the engine mounts and radiator tomorrow

Was perfectly drivable before but i never really took it on any good B road blasts, more motorway etc.. Its been in the process of rebuild/tart it up a bit for a while .

Life just gets in the way of cars sometimes , and my decision to buy a V8 as a daily a year ago wasnt the most sensible...... Still got 90% of the parts needed to finish it and the engien is rebuilt etc.

enjoying your two threads as it gives me some motivation.

You dont have to tell me that

Its an E39 5 series 4.4L , I wish I had saved up more and bought the M5. Although I recently got done for 64 in a 50 zone so it will likely get sold soon enough!

No way! My mate bought one of those a couple months ago too! Brilliant car for what you can get one for nowadays! Big black lines and clouds of smoke at every set of lights! Lol. His has got the m sport kit on and the m5 wheels and to be honest, I don't think he's arsed it isn't the m5. He spends enough money on fuel as it is and the difference in price would probably fund my whole PumKa project! Lol. Stick us a picture of yours on here pal. Is it the light blue one?

Agreed! Its 90% of the fun for much less than the M5. Always wanted the E39 V8 but insurance is mad. Servicing and running costs of the M5 would have you bent over a table as well...

How much will it take to get the Pukka back together then mate?

You arent mad. Thats why I bought it.

I went to Ford Fair in 2005 and saw the car and loved it then. It came up for sale a few years back and I had to have it.

Yeah the M5 is a bit more costly to run with the M tax.

As for the Ka, I need to put some engine bits back on (rebuilt engine), recon turbo, finish the Omex/loom and also replace the car loom with a standard one thats not had looads of shit cut into it. I also want to rearrange the engine bay etc as it was not really that well thought out.

Yes its great the amoutn of toys etc you get. Mines an M Sport Individual so its got some extra options and its Blue/Purple velvet with M-para wheels.

It does about 20mpg average for me, I have had over 30 enough times on a motorway run.

The reason for the M5 want is:

- Will go up in price as its a special model
- 400hp
- manual (540s in manual are rare enough, I went for auto)
- 5.0L
- Similar fuel economy
- LSD. better suspesnsion all round etc.

Just spent £600 on 4 tyres for it FFS!

I think I will replace it with a cheap Ka or similar for a few months once im finished sorting out a few bits.
