Well a bit further....Wiring suuuucccckkkss, whenever i read peoples projects i always thought it looked difficult but when you get stuck in it shouldnt be that bad. Loosing motivation here lol

Getting there! If anyone has done this before i would really appreciate hearing how you ran your wiring. Not sure on puma engine fusebox location and ecu location at the moment, still working out all the wires that need to be spliced and wiring locations. Really appreciate my girlfriend helping me here, cant beat female organization!

Hoping to have it fired up next week

Only drove a Ka once and found it like driving a little roller skate. Great fun.

Cheers mate . Looking forward to chucking it around some corners, when i have it all running i will look more into the suspension. Would like to get some polyurethane bushes under there

All is going well, got my piping all planned out, just waiting for the last lot and i can start cutting and fitting. Wiring is a ball ache, i have a stack of diagrams, Haynes manuals and scribbled notes to go through tonight but hopefully be joining up the last of the wires tomorrow

Found my final position for the fusebox and ordered a waterproof covering, removed most of the plugs and loose wires from both looms

Going well

This is the picture of everything in its (hopefully) final position:

Had a bugger of a problem with the Lemforder wishbone balljoints, a warning to anyone buying them. One of the three securing bolts hits the hub's pinch bolt. I got round this buy cutting the bolt down to the flange. Should keep its strength but not very impressed with Lemforder

Unfortunately ive snapped my servo vacuum pipe and not sure where i can source a new one so if anyone has one im in need. For now going to try and make the KA one work

Also sized up a Mondeo 55mm throttlebody but doesnt look like it will fit. It doesnt have a port for the idle air control valve....shame

Cheers for the comments lads, helps me to keep going! I hope to hear signs of life by the end of this weekend...

Had a really bloody scary moment! Was testing the starter, decided to add a supporting ground which was smaller gauge. Shorted the starter terminals and it just kept running, front just started pouring with smoke. So struggling to breath i managed to unbolt the positive terminal and the lot went off. Not sure what happened, the relay must have stuck on but it managed to melt through my supporting ground wire which then fell onto the oil filter and the starter carried on going! I have now stuck a nice big 4 gauge wire on it. Took about an hour for the smoke to clear out

Well wiring has been much harder than i expected, im very new to this so im sure its something simple stopping it from turning over. I will go through the loom over the break and find out what im doing wrong with the PATS system

Pretty much everything else is wired, got the fan sorted and due to not having a housing for the fan i will be fitting a custom box to house the thermostatic switch. Also cleaned up the PAS and coolant bottles

Interesting project, I thought your initial plan was to fit a full puma loom?

Thanks matey, i spoke to a few people and did ALOT of research and best way seemed to be to splice the two looms together as all it should be is the live, switched live, earths and gauges and your away.

Now im very stuck lol

Here is where im up to:

Im having a problem trying to get the engine to even turn over at the moment. Ive got the TIS and have been doing through it like mad

As far as i can see i have it all wired up, the ECU receives constant 12v live (to pin 55), switched 12v live (to pins 71 and 97) and earth to pins 24, 51, 77, 103, 25

Fuel pump relay and Starter inhibit relay are receiving earth and live as well but not getting the signal from the ECU to start. PATs just flashes as if the ECU isnt on and i cant read it with ODB2 tools. The donor ran great before it was parked up

Have you got the puma key within range of the pick up, so that it switches immobiliser off?

Or have you wired it so the immobiliser isn't functioning?

The immobilizer transponder and antenna are both wired up but the pats light doesnt change its flash pattern when the key is turned. Like the ECU hasnt powered up. I used a multimeter to check the lives and grounds on the ECU and i checked the transponder wires are they are wired correctly also

Dont know if im missing some pins that should be live on the ECU but cant see it on the TIS Manuals. Tried swapping to a MUFF ecu and that had the same problem although im not sure the pins are the same on that ECU

But have you got the puma key within range? As I presume you still have the ka steering lock/ignition key.

I really would wire the engine up stand alone before integrating it to the car loom to prove the wiring.

If the ecu power's up with out reading the key the light in the clock goes nuts. If it reads the key it goes solid then out.

For it to carry steadily flashing on says it's not powering up.

Thanks Warren, this morning i purchased a Ford Fiesta engine loom as per your advice as it came up cheap. Will try and wire up the ECU separately and see if it is the fault

That's a shame just wondered how other people did them. I used a whole puma loom in mine, there's a thread on here if you wanna have a look. I can tell you how to do it like that if you need it

Thanks for the reply Jamie, i would love to see that thread if you've got it to hand. So you've done one yourself, did you struggle much with the wiring?

I dunno how to send a link but if you click on my name Its the only thread I've started. The wiring was pretty simple but I wanted the engine fuse box inside the car. I had to extend a few bits to get it where I wanted it but it worked out ok. Nearly all of the wiring for the ka and the puma are the same colour as well.

I remember the wires on the induction sensor around the ignition barrel being pretty weak, check that these haven't become damaged.
