Building a homemade jet engine
i'm currently building a jet engine out of a turbo.I'm soon going to be working out and drilling the flametube.i have all the calculations off of various youtube videos.
Has anyone on here built one.there seem to be so many variations of flametube design, could do with some pointers maybe on what works better, than other designs,if that makes sense.
cheers all
matt
here's a pic of the turbo, cosworth t3 on the left
will upload more pics of the build later

Started with the turbo flange, and the ,whats going to be the flametube.
Starts of with a straight steel pipe, cut "Vs" in the end then bend together to make the funnel bit at the end

PassionFord Post Whore!!
Would look good bolted to a Sinclair C5, or an old folks buggy....
Reminds me of a mate, who once made a spud gun out of a bit of welded scaffold tube and some oxy acetylene...
Good luck with it, can't wait to see it in action!

Got to love a crazy project.
Who's that crazy bloke that made one in his shed and nearly set it all on fire?
He made a proper fast mobility scooter as well.

Its not as mad as it sounds as early jet engines did have centrifugal compressors (as opposed to axial compressors) just like a 'turbo' and infact many modern turbo prop engines still do.
Looking forward to a video hopefuly without a big bang at the end of it
