Default sapphire 2000e

3 owners from new same family since 1995 when he paid £1500 for it, still got the receipt
it was given to his daughter in 2010 when she had her Honda civic stolen. My friends mom. she was nearly in tears last night.
Regretably it doesn't have full service history as several receipts and invoices were binned in a tidy up when she got the car from her dad. Although I do have a folder full of paper work including aprox 17 old mots
My plans are a little unclear on what to do, it is perfectly usable as is but im thinking I want to make it a minta It currently as 11 months mot and taxed end of September. But the is quite a few advisory's like tyres perishing brake pipes/hoses.
I have a few photos but not loads so I will add more of bodywork once iv given a damn good cleaning.

My original plan did involve a garage space but that as fell through. so its currently kept outside
The shell itself is pretty good, although it as had welding done in past to sills etc, bodywork wise as you see is very good passengers rear arch as small patch of rust aprox 40mm long and drivers blister the size of little finger nail. only other rust is by the sunroof on both side again only small maybe size of 20p coin.

It is a shame about the leather. the recaro's came up on facebook at bargain price of £150 so couldn't say no really.
I am ordering a litre of grey pigment from buffalo leather in preston and will recolour to patch original

not done a lot, but iv got the shocks front brake pipes rear disc/pads on order. Also bought some paint for the underside off a friend of my dads who deals with old tractors so I known to be very durable, same spec on that auction site is around £24 per litre. I paid £10.

Looks nice that matey. I would get some cossie door cards for the interior.

Check your chassis legs underneath the rear beam when you fit your suspension springs cause you will have to drop the beam to fit these.

Never had to drop a rear beam to fit rear springs.

Hope you have not gone too low with the springs.

stu the cozzy leather is going tobe dyed grey to match rest of 2000e trim.
glen don't need the door cards because of^^ lol.
the springs are -40 mm so not that low at all. I think what glenn ment was the beam needs dropping if the chassis legs are a mess

How do you fit the springs matey. This is how ive done them on the cossie. On my old hatchback sierra i cut the bracket for the brake pipe removed the shocker bolts and leavered the rear suspension arms down.

Sometimes you cant see the chassis legs till the beam is dropped. My old hatchback sierra was bloody low and kept wearing tyres off on the outer edges.

that looks nice on the escos rims. what was the drop on that?

I'll have a good look at the rails, iv got a wire brush for my grinder so any surface rust will be attended too. treated and painted so should be good for a while.

Didn't think, even compressed, you'd get the springs past the bump stops without dropping the beam!?

Liking the hatchback on the Cossie rims Glenn! What was the spec?

I've never tried, or really ever gone near it to see what's involved, just seems to be too much bump stop inside the spring!?

...Good work on such a rare beast these days btw

if you look at 1st pic I posted tonight stu, the white mush used to be the bumpstop[. the steel cone and rubber around spring itself makes it a bugger too.

I'd love to swap my rear springs for something a little higher, (just really for cosmetic reasons) but always put off thinking it was a total pain in the arse!? As you say, it's the metal part the stop sits on....

Thanks matey. It was a 2.0ltr gt sierra. It was the 2ltr twin cam, decatted, cone filter, full saff cossie interior and lowered. That was it really.

slight progress today.
dodging the sleet snow and rain I managed to repair the arch and cut off the sill. I found fibreglass and filler on the inner sill, no pics of this.
But did take pic of the arch. nice solid metal no rust or rot,few pin holes but needs to skim of filler.

I've had an 1/2 descent afternoon on her.
all the crap as been cut out tidied up, new sill trimmed, no point fitting the full 1 as would be harder to hide without proper paint job, no confident enough to do that.
Inner sill repaired wasn't that bad to be fair only took a strip about 200 mm long and 40mm deep. me being dumb I didn't take pics of this. So as it stands now the sill as been fitted and seem sealed, i didn't want filler in the sill so that was sealed to. not sure was my best option?? Anyhow a few pics.

I know i will need some filler to wear the lip as been repaired but it will only only need a bit i think.
