So not much of an update but my mate came down at the weekend and between us we fitted some new bits on the cossie consisting of a new water pump, thermostat, alternator and pas belts, new header tank and black cap, fresh anti freeze new plugs, dizzy cap, rotor arm and lead so hopefully no more pesky misfire the leads were very naff that came off so hopefully that's that sortedB

Also have a group a coil and new loom but was unsure where to chop and now know so will do that maybe at the weekend

Not much to show but here's a pic

Eventually came back to post the pics lol

A pic to prove its running after 6 months when the thermostat started leaking it needs a damn good clean i know but it'll get sorted in time

finally replaced the old manky header tank and got a black cap as i just think it looks better

Still have the group a coil and new loom to fit bu the instructions that came with the loom didn't match what i had now know how that has to be fitted and will be done next time i go round the garage

borrowed one of my brothers centre caps out of his comps and it fits the ears wheels nicely so managed to find a set and hopefully can pull something together so that they don't say comp on them

Lastly whilst waiting for my girlfriend to come home i was browsing the classifieds on here and had to have this so ned a couple more stack gauges now and get them all fitted

Also a pretty big update is that next week i need to finally drag it out the garage and start getting the interior out as its going to the bodyshop to get the arches sorted!!!! Just waiting on the passenger side one to arrive, but its been ordered and can get cracking on the drivers side in the mean time. Will strip the outside of the car once I've driven it there so hopefully proper updates soon and it should be hopefully sorted for June fingers crossed!

Trouble is nobody wanted to put ŁŁŁŁ's into an old saff but now they are worth doing.
Fair play to you getting it all done. Just make sure all internal welded joints are protected as soon as possible.

So yesterday I got cracking and spent a good while with the drill slowly going round drilling all the spot welds out and got them all except the ones under the rear window as I still need to get someone to come and remove it.

Before the quarter got peeled off curiosity got the better off me and had a little dig and turns out the arch had a tiny piece of metal put in and a shit load of filler so glad to have it off the car it's been bugging me for so long.

The cars been left with most the quarter off and now needs tidying where it joins the rest of the car ready for the new panel. The inner arch is in good condition which is a big relief and also got the skirts off and so are the sills!

Anyway enough waffle some pics

At least your doing the job right by chopping the quarter off. There is a bit of bodge in there. Most old fords will have a bit of bodge in them.

Had a look at the other side today and it was also a bodge not sure if they're real tears yet

The passenger side has had a repair panel put in and looks like they've welded it continuously and the heat has seriously warped the panel and there was a lot of filler in there

Also had my group a wheel nuts arrive today for the new wheels from Steve at speedshack very helpful guy and hopefully I've found somewhere to machine the offset of the wheels down will chase that up next week

Also need to get the rear screen out as that's now holding up getting the last bits off the drivers quarter off in prep for the new one

Cheers costina looking forward to just getting on with it now tbh now the better weathers coming I want to be out in it

I know proper blast from the past and mega helpful and just tried them on the car with the wheels and they're perfect so luckily don't need longer studs which is a result

How much can be safely removed? I have some comps that would need -5mm to fit perfectly on my car.

The guy that did mine said it all depends on how much material is on the back of the wheel these had loads and even after having 5mm taken off there is still more than enough left to go on the car

i have a couple of sets of 6 1/2x16 at et 27 rl7 that could do with a few mm taken off them to fit a s1 or rs1600i perfect with a 195 tyre.

thats the good thing about rl,s is their is plenty of meet on the hub faces to allow maching
